Hi! My name is Anya. My mom is my voice for now, but one day I will have my own voice... I was born a June 15, 2009, a day after my mom celebrated her 31st birthday. The whole story of how I was born is in one of my mom's blogs. Since then, I have been a blessing to my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and all my relatives and friends. I have been diagnosed with lissencephaly type 1. Lissencephaly is a rare brain disease wherein my brain is very smooth compared to the regular brain with lots of hills and valleys. Some parts of my brain are actually missing. I also have hydrocephalus (some water in my brain), microcephaly (small head circumference because the brain isn't growing as it should), seizures called infantile spasms, and global developmental delay. I also have profound hearing loss on both ears and poor vision but I can follow the light. But, I can feel, hear and see all the love being given to me. This website is mainly for my parents to keep track of my growth as well as my medications and therapy. Other family members and friends can also see updates here. My parents are also reaching out to anyone who can help financially support all the hospital visits and extensive therapy. Some of my therapy includes overseas trips since not enough facilities are available in Manila, Philippines.
